CALL FOR ACTOR SUBMISSIONS:

LAFFShows is accepting submissions from actors interested in being considered for the Indiana premiere of PUFFS at The District Theatre. Submissions will be accepted through July 31 at laffshows@gmail.com.

Rehearsals begin November 1. Performances are Fri-Sun, December 6, 2019 – January 4, 2020. These are non-Equity paid positions. Submissions should include a headshot and resume and links to any pre-existing online audition or performance samples (not required). Actors may be asked to self-tape sides or attend a call-back audition after July 31. Improvisation and sketch-comedy skills a plus. The total cast size is 11 (5 men, 5 women, 1 m or f). 3 men and 2 women are pre-cast from the existing LAFFShows repertory company. Submissions should be sent via email to laffshows@gmail.com.

PUFFS, OR: SEVEN INCREASINGLY EVENTFUL YEARS AT A CERTAIN SCHOOL OF MAGIC AND MAGIC is the hilarious and heartfelt Off-Broadway hit by Matt Cox. The District theatre production is directed by Darrin Murrell and marks the Indiana premiere of the play.

For seven years a certain boy wizard went to a certain Wizard School and conquered evil. This, however, is not his story. This is the story of the Puffs… who just happened to be there too. A tale for anyone who has never been destined to save the world.

This clever and inventive play “never goes more than a minute without a laugh” (Nerdist) giving you a new look at a familiar adventure from the perspective of three potential heroes just trying to make it through a magic school that proves to be very dangerous for children. Alongside them are the Puffs, a group of well-meaning, loyal outsiders with a thing for badgers “who are so lovable and relatable, you’ll leave the theater wishing they were in the stories all along” (Hollywood Life). Their “hilariously heartfelt!” (Metro) and epic journey takes the classic story to new places and reimagines what a boy wizard hero can be. Third or nothing!
