ACTORS THEATRE OF INDIANA – SWEENEY TODD AUDITION CALL

These auditions are open to only non-equity performers but must be secured with an appointment time by emailing Actors Theatre of Indiana. Details below.

Non-Equity performer auditions for ATI, Saturday September 14th, 2019 from 12 PM to 5:00 PM.

To schedule an appointment:
Beginning August 26th, ATI will accept Non-Equity Members audition appointment requests via email to ATI PSM Kevin Casey at kcpsm@mac.com. Appointment times will be emailed back to confirm.

Appointments will be given in 7-minute increments.
We will accept video submission up to the date of the auditions.

SWEENEY TODD
1st REH: February 4, 2020.
Rehearsals are Tuesday through Sunday. Times vary but generally 5:30 PM to 10:30 PM Tuesday – Friday and 10 am to 5:30 PM Saturday and Sunday.
Performances: Friday 2/21/20 and Saturday 2/22/20

Casting Breakdown:
SEEKING:

ADOLFO PIRELLI A flamboyant Italian rival barber; a charlatan with a secret past. Male, 30-45 yrs old Range: B2 – C5

ANTHONY HOPE A naive and youthful sailor returning to London. He helps Todd return to London and unexpectedly falls in love with Johanna. Male, 20-30 yrs old Range: Bb2 – F4

JUDGE TURPIN A lecherous public official who portrays himself as a sanctimonious authoritarian. He takes advantage of his position in the city and is responsible for imprisoning Todd. Male, 50-65 yrs old Range: E2 – Gb4

THE BEADLE A pompous public official. He is deeply loyal to the corrupt Turpin. Male, 40-55 yrs old Range: D3 – D5

TOBIAS RAGG A poor youngster apprenticed to Pirelli. He finds a surrogate family in Todd and Lovett. Male, 12-18 yrs old Range: Bb2 – Ab4

NOT SEEKING:

BEGGAR WOMAN A deranged and schizophrenic woman who harbors a dark, surprising secret. Female, 35-50 yrs old Range: Ab3 – F5. THIS ROLE IS CAST

MRS. LOVETT An entrepreneurial and amoral meat pie shop owner. She falls in love with Todd and turns his desire for revenge into a profitable business venture. Female, 35-50 Range: G3 – E5 THIS ROLE IS CAST

SWEENEY TODD A wrongfully imprisoned barber seeking to right the wrongs committed against him. He is Johanna’s father, singularly focussed on taking bloody revenge. Our story’s tormented protagonist. Male, 40-55 yrs old Range: F2 – Gb4 THIS ROLE IS CAST

JONAS FOGG The owner of Fogg’s Asylum. He sells the hair of madmen to wigmakers. Male, 35-60 yrs old Speaking Role THIS ROLE IS CAST

JOHANNA A spritely girl, full of innocence, constantly yearning for freedom. Todd’s long-lost daughter and Turpin’s ward. Female, 18-21 yrs old Range: Bb3 – A5 THIS ROLE IS CAST

Preparation:
Please bring a headshot and resume stapled together. Please prepare a song from the score that you are interested in being considered. Please also familiarize yourself with the sides attributed to the role you are auditioning for as the director may ask you to read at the audition. PDF’s of the songs requested per character will be found on our website at www.atistage.org/auditions. An accompanist will be provided.

Other:
EPA Procedures are not in effect for this audition. An Equity Monitor will not be provided. The producer will run all aspects of this audition. Performers of all ethnic and racial backgrounds are encouraged to attend.

Where do I park? Do I have to pay?
The parking garage is located across from the south entrance to the Palladium, just off of 3rd Avenue SW. There is no charge for parking. See https://thecenterpresents.org/visit/directions-parking/ for garage location details.

Where do I enter?
The auditions will take place in the rehearsal room 141 of The Studio Theater. Access to the backstage area is located through the double doors on the main level of the parking garage. Signs will be posted. If you park on a level higher that the first floor, take the elevator to the first floor, which will take you directly to the lobby of The Studio Theater. Turn left and go down the hallway towards the parking garage entrance. Exit through the glass doors and turn left. Enter through the backstage double doors and sign in with the monitor. If available, you may take the hallway to the left through the Civic Rehearsal Studios to reach the backstage area of The Studio Theater and sign in with the monitor.
