Indianapolis Artsgarden Seeks Performer Submissions for Summer 2020 Lunchtime Performance Series

ATTENTION PERFORMERS!

The Arts Council of Indianapolis is seeking submissions from central Indiana performing artists (musicians, dancers, spoken word, etc.) for the Indianapolis Artsgarden’s Lunchtime Performance Series for the summer of 2020 (May – August).

Each year the Indianapolis Artsgarden provides over 250 free public performances. The Lunchtime Performance Series has been in existence for 20+ years engaging new, emerging talent as well as established Indy artists.

APPLICATION DEADLINE: 11:59 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time on Friday, January 31, 2020.

SPECIFICATIONS: All styles and forms of music, dance, and performance are welcome.

LOCATION: Performance space is located inside the Indianapolis Artsgarden adjacent to Circle Centre Mall in downtown Indianapolis. 110 W Washington St. Indianapolis, IN 46204

COMPENSATION: All performances are paid based on a scale that reflects the Arts Council’s commitment to paying all artists a fair and competitive wage.

TIMELINE:

  • Applications open: January 15, 2020
  • Submission deadline: January 31, 2020 (11:59 pm)
  • Notifications sent and musicians contracted: by February 14, 2020
  • Performances: May, June, July, August 2020 (Weekdays 12:15pm, Saturday 1pm, Sunday 2pm)
  • Additional calls will be announced for booking the rest of the year

CONDITIONS:

  • Limited 1-hr time slots are scheduled during peak lunchtime hours (Weekdays at 12:15 pm, Saturdays at 1 pm, Sundays at 2 pm).
  • Technical Information: The Indianapolis Artsgarden provides full PA for performances, as well as an audio engineer. The Artsgarden does not provide backline (drum kit, bass amp, etc), but does provide a Steinway concert grand piano. The Artsgarden will supply mics, stands, D/Is, cabling, and as many as four monitors, each on their own mix. For dance performances the Artsgarden can provide a Marley floor, approximately 24’ deep and 32’ wide, but the Artsgarden does not have a sprung floor; the Marley is laid over our marble floor.
  • You may provide printed promotional material to display during and after your set. CD/merchandise sales are permitted for 30 minutes before and after the set. All sales are to be handled by the performing artists.
  • You may be photographed and/or filmed for promotional purposes only but your set will not be published in its entirety. By signing the performer contract, you acknowledge and agree to this.
  • If contracted, artist agrees to provide a completed W9, technical requirements worksheet, performance agreement, and promotional content in a timely manner (no later than 30 days prior to performance).
  • Payment will be made available via check to performers post-set.
  • Indianapolis Artsgarden is a public performance venue. Performances must be appropriate for all people and ages. Appropriate content is at the sole discretion of the Indianapolis Artsgarden Director.

SELECTION PROCESS: Artists will be selected by an internal selection panel.

SELECTION CRITERIA: The goal of the Lunchtime Performance Series is to provide a public platform to promote and celebrate central Indiana’s diverse and dynamic talent. Artists will be chosen based on quality and professionalism of the submission to create a robust schedule of events. Preference will be given to artists living or working in the Arts Council of Indianapolis service area which consists of Marion County and/or one of the seven surrounding counties.
