Indiana Arts Commission Seeking Nominations & Artists for Governor’s Arts Awards

The Indiana Arts Commission is seeking nominations for the 2020 Governor’s Arts Awards, which will be held in October 2020 in Columbus, Indiana. These awards recognize excellence in artistic achievement, philanthropy, arts education, and leadership in the arts. The IAC has also announced a call for artists to design the awards. Submissions for both opportunities must be received by December 1.

Nominate Someone for a Governor’s Art Award
The Governor’s Arts Awards are open to any individual, group, organization, business or community that has made a significant contribution to or positive impact on the growth, awareness, and strength of the arts in Indiana. Individuals nominated for the award must be, or have been residents of the State of Indiana. Organizations and businesses nominated for the award must either have headquarters or operations in Indiana. To learn more or to submit a nomination, click here.

Artists Invited Propose a Design for the 2020 Awards
The IAC is looking for an artist or artist team to create seven awards for the 2020 event. The budget is $7,000 inclusive of all expenses such as design, fabrication, travel, taxes, and artist fees. Awards should be created with durable material and be of an appropriate size and weight to be awarded on stage as part of a public event. It is their preference that the awards include an interactive or technology-assisted element (e.g., illumination, kinetic), but it is not required. Five of the awards will be presented to awardees, one will remain with the Indiana Arts Commission, and one will remain with the Office of the Governor. A selection committee will review submissions on the basis of design merit; feasibility; and the extent to which the submission is suitable as a statewide award. The recommended submission will be forwarded to the Office of the Governor for final selection. Click here to learn more or to submit your design.
