St'artUp317 Pop Up Shop Initiative Seeks Applications

 Indianapolis, IN, Unknown

St’Artup317 pop-up initiative is back for its third season: Building on past seasons to strengthen the city’s retail industry and to support small business owners.

Indy Chamber and PATTERN announced the launch of the third season of St’artup 317. Taking underutilized first floor commercial spaces in key commercial corridors, the initiative aims to incubate viable retail businesses and long-term tenants, while supporting the creative class and improving the cultural profile of our city. The long-term goal of the program is to eliminate empty storefronts, increase local and visitor consumer spending and ensure that the Marion county neighborhoods continue thriving. As in years past, the program will run during one of Indy’s most momentous months – May, with store and window activations in the Mile Square, Fountain Square, and along the Red Line.

Pop-Up stores are commercial spaces that have a limited life span, ranging from one day to a few months. The essence of the pop-up model is the excitement surrounding the exclusivity of “one day it’s there and the next it is not”. Once a business strategy reserved for holiday themed businesses, the pop-up model has been adopted by multinational companies as well as mom and pop start-ups to drive brand hype and grown into a $50 billion industry.

Applications for the third round of St’artup 317 open January 20 online at www.startup317.com and will be accepted through February 10. For more information about the program, and how to participate, interested parties should attend the January 16 St’Artup317 Season 3 kick-off mixer to be held 6-8:30p at Big Car’s Tube Factory in Garfield Park.
