Admissions Coordinator

Job Summary

The Admissions Coordinator is responsible to work closely with the Assistant Dean of Admissions and Student Affairs to manage recruiting efforts and initiatives to increase enrollment and retention of students. Responsible for coordinating and administering a variety of in-state and out-of-state recruitment efforts, involving communicating with prospective students, providing admissions counseling, event planning, and contact and data management.

  • Manage the undergraduate and graduate admissions cycle. Collaborate with key stakeholders and departments to develop comprehensive recruitment and marketing strategies. Oversee and participate in multiple in-state and out-of-state recruitment efforts including travel to high schools and two-year schools, hosting campus visits, working with IUPUI Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Graduate Office for campus events, and participation in college fairs. Counsel and encourage prospective students and visitors by phone, email, and in person providing information about courses, the application process, program pre-requisites, and transfer credit.
  • Coordinate and review prospective candidate portfolios and make decisions to determine qualifications for direct admittance to Herron. Collaborate with faculty involved in admissions in making decisions for direct admission to the school and scholarships. Oversee all data collection and analysis for recruitment efforts. Develop reports documenting all recruitment efforts, keeping detailed records after each event. Run and analyze data on recruitment efforts to drive future processes. Pull and monitor applicant reports regularly. Maintain the comprehensive contact management system for tracking the admissions journey of all prospective students.
  • Coordinate events hosted by Herron for recruitment purposes, including National Portfolio Day, Open House, and Discovery Day. Conduct workshops for recruiting events. Collaborate with the coordinators of the Herron Ambassador program, securing volunteers for events, tours, and communication with prospects through email/phone.
  • Serve on various admissions-based committees within Herron and on the campus level. Attend recruiters meetings and workshops. Meet regularly with Herron’s campus admission representative to coordinate recruitment efforts.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and one year of related experience.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including ability to interact with a wide variety of people. Outgoing personality. Effective organization and planning skills. Computer skills (Internet, Word Processor, E-mail). Ability to work within a variable work schedule, especially during peak travel season with periodic weekend and evening events.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in visual arts or related field. Master’s degree. Experience in admissions or similar recruitment-related setting.

Working Conditions / Demands

Ability to work at a computer for long periods of time. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds. Ability to travel by driving and/or flying. Must be able to perform essential functions of the job with or without an accommodation.
