Bring It! Artist Community Critique and Pitch-In

What is this?

Bring It! is an industry night for visual artists and art enthusiasts. Open to the public, the Indianapolis creative community is invited to discuss art beyond the gallery walls. A group pitch-in-dinner is hosted following critique discussion. Come join us for a lively evening of art and cultural exchange while bringing art or a dish to share!

Who can critique?

Artists are invited to share their recent work in peer-to-peer critique to help address questions for artistic feedback. This Last Friday session hosts up to three artists to discuss conceptual or formal questions in their art practice. Group discussion provides artists with needed in-progress feedback or reflection on a finished portfolio.

Anyone who is a visual artist can bring artwork for critique. This event is aimed to support midcareer studio artists and emerging students. Artists working in all mediums are encouraged to bring original artwork. Notification for collaborative groups should be made ahead of time to accommodate.

How to host
Bring It! can be brought to you! Any local Indianapolis based artist studio or art center wishing to host an evening of art and discussion can contact the group organizer to add an event date.

Invite people who are not artists but are interested in the arts, perhaps people who have attended your exhibitions previously.

Be receptive to different perspectives and opinions.

Keep it informal and fun!

Artists, what to bring?

  • Have an exhibition the next First Friday? Use this critique on the Last Friday to solve questions or concerns before your work goes onto the gallery walls.
  • Only have an older portfolio, but want insight into making new work? Bring it! Plus one new piece to show the group your idea.
  • Have only one or two finished pieces of art and want insight. Please bring some supporting sketches or past work to help the group discuss it.
