Butler University Libraries invite applications for a Performing and Visual Arts Librarian. This position serves as the liaison librarian to the Jordan College of Arts (JCA), with an emphasis on instructional services and support for new information/scholarly initiatives related to performing arts research. The librarian partners with faculty to provide course-integrated library instruction in support of programmatic student learning outcomes, develops and manages Butler Libraries’ Performing and Visual Arts collections, and provides research support for JCA faculty and students. This is a 12-month, continuing (non-tenured) faculty appointment and reports to the Associate Dean for Instruction and User Services. This position is expected to fulfill the requirements of faculty status through active contributions in the areas of librarianship, scholarship, and service.

An updated 2017-2020 strategic plan further builds on this vision.

Minimum and Preferred Qualifications: Successful candidates must have a Master’s of Library Science from an ALA-accredited institution, an undergraduate degree in music or a related performing arts field, and ability to meet minimum qualifications for the rank of Assistant Professor as stated in 20.30.30.B.2.a of the Butler University Faculty Handbook.
