The Indianapolis Art Center is calling for entries from artists in any medium 18 or older living in Indiana for a curated group exhibition focusing on work about/depicting the home or work of any kind created during Indiana’s stay-at-home mandate earlier this year. Homebound will examine not only contemporary depictions of the home or home environment in art but also showcase local artwork created during a uniquely unprecedented global situation. Homebound will run from October 9 – November 18, 2020.

Eligibility:

  • Submission is free and open to all artists over the age of 18 residing in Indiana.
  • Work must be made within the last two years and cannot have been previously shown at the Art Center.
  • All work must be original and made by the artist or artist team.
  • Collaborative works made between artists are eligible for inclusion.
  • All mediums are eligible.
  • Installation artists should contact the Art Center before applying to ensure compatibility of space.
  • Artwork must not weigh more than 250 pounds or be larger than 10 feet in any direction.

Accepted Work:

  • The Indianapolis Art Center exhibitions staff reserves the right to remove any works from the exhibition based on special installation circumstances or discrepancies between the juried images and actual work.
  • All accepted work must remain on display until the end of the exhibition, November 18, 2020.
  • All work must come ready to install/hang. For multi-media and other installations, artist should be available to assist with installation (to take place September 30, 2020 through October 8, 2020).
  • All work may be offered for sale. The Art Center retains a 35% commission on all sales.
  • Notification of acceptance will be sent by September 22, 2020

Delivery:

  • All artwork must arrive by Tuesday, September 29, 2020.
  • Artist is responsible for hand-delivering or the shipping cost and insurance of the work while in transit.
  • Work must be shipped in a reusable container and return shipping is also to be paid by the artist.
  • Hand-delivered work may be dropped off beginning Wednesday, September 23, 2020.

The Art Center is open: Monday – Friday 9a.m. – 10p.m. Saturday 9a.m. – 6p.m. Sunday Noon – 6p.m.

Liability:

The Art Center will be responsible for insuring the exhibition while on view, and upon request will furnish a certificate of insurance indicating that the works are so insured prior to transportation. The Artist is responsible for providing an itemized insurance list on the Art Center’s form. This form will be emailed to the artists once accepted into the exhibition.

Exhibition Timeline:

  • Submission Deadline: September 21, 2020
  • Notification of Acceptance: September 22, 2020
  • Work Delivery: September 23 – 29, 2020
  • Installation: September 30 – October 8, 2020
  • Exhibition: October 9 – November 18, 2020

  • Up to 15 images of individual works for consideration. (details may be included)
  • An image description list – including title, medium, and dimensions of each piece
  • Your proposal materials WILL NOT be returned to you.
