The Eiteljorg Museum is currently doing an employment search to fill the position of Volunteer Coordinator.

The position is a full time position with benefits, starting at $30,000. There is the potential of growth in this position, with the right person in the job.

The Volunteer Coordinator works with all departments to meet the volunteer needs throughout the museum. They will also represent the museum and their volunteer program out in the community.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail will help maintain the database, recruiting, training, placing and scheduling our guides and volunteers.

JOB TITLE: Volunteer Coordinator

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • College degree and previous experience working with and managing volunteers.
  • Strong project management, organizational and attention to details skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people and inspire dedication to the volunteer program as
    well as to the museum
  • Familiarity with local community, college/university volunteer agencies and organizations
  • Proficient Microsoft computer skills such as Word and Excel. Blackbaud Raisers Edge data base
    knowledge would be a plus
  • Ability to be flexible in daily schedule and to work a flexible schedule when volunteer needs
    dictate—must work some Saturdays as programming and festivals require.
  • Contribute to a positive working environment and work well within a team environment.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
A. Consult with all museum departments to identify and evaluate volunteer and intern needs and
opportunities.

B. Continually identify and develop strategic partnerships with community organizations, universities,
service organizations and corporate volunteer groups by developing a diverse and innovative
volunteer recruitment program to fit the museum’s increasing volunteer needs. Develop Web-based
volunteer recruitment efforts and presence in conjunction with museum communications
department.

C. Process volunteer applications, background checks, and orientation for new volunteers and interns.
Place volunteers for all museum programs, festivals and special events such as Indian Market and
Festival, Jingle Rails, and Quest for the West. Work with the Public Programs Department to recruit
and place new guides for annual training. Provide continued training as needed for events and
exhibits.

D. Manage volunteer database; electronically prepare reports and schedules for distribution for all
volunteer assignments. Develop and regularly review all volunteer procedures and policies. Design
and maintain a volunteer management operations manual and all printed and electronic materials
for use by volunteers and museum staff.

E. Design and implement a museum consolidated internship program while assisting museum staff
with recruitment, onboarding and training.

F. Manage Speakers Bureau program including taking requests from the community and scheduling
volunteers.
