Prince George’s County, Maryland, is accepting qualifications from artists or artist teams interested in a public art opportunity at the Surratts-Clinton Branch Library in Prince George’s County, Maryland. For this public art opportunity, the selected artist or artist team will design, fabricate, and install an interior public art piece in the form of a glass, mosaics, and/or ceramic mural.

BUDGET: $76,000

This public art mural will be along the welcome area alcove. Its design will consist of glass, mosaics, and/or ceramics. These preferred materials should be durable, non-hazardous, and easily cleanable. The mural must take inspiration from the Chesapeake Bay and the local natural environment. The artwork shall complement and create a cohesive design intent with the color scheme attached to the end of this call. Artist or artist teams must be able to install the mural on an interior brick wall and metal stud walls with gypsum board.

WHAT TO PROVIDE

  1. Name and contact information including resident/primary studio address.
  2. Statement of interest which describes how you will address the project design values.
  3. Preliminary ideas for how you would approach the project and what uniquely bring to enhance overall vision.
  4. Resume/Artist Vitae outlining your professional accomplishments. (If submitting as a team, please identify team leader and include resumes for each team member.)
  5. Images of most recent work that represents your artistic process. (Please limit to 10 images per artist or team member)
  6. Three professional references that include name, affiliated organization (if appropriate), email address, and phone number.
