E-Learning Children's Opera "The Tails of Cats and Mice"

Program description

“The Tails of Cats and Mice” is an opera for young audiences based on stories from “Aesop’s Fables” set to music by famous opera composers. A Country Mouse has plans to see her cousin in the city, and needs help putting her suitcase together. Perhaps you can help her out. As soon as she’s ready, a Lion is waiting outside her door with a predicament: he has a thorn in his paw and needs help. Will she be brave enough to help him? Meanwhile, in the city, the City Mouse has problems of his own thanks to a Cat that won’t leave him alone. Perhaps he has an ingenious solution to his feline friend, but it will take a lot of bravery to pull it off.

This version of “The Tails of Cats and Mice” was based on a staged version that was sent out all over the state of Indiana as part of the Indianapolis Opera Resident Artist Program. Due to school closures caused by coronavirus, we devised this new version for your own home enjoyment. However, the original opera features a choice system that allows the audience to decide how the story goes mid-way.
