Arts for Learning

Arts for Learning engages children with the arts by bringing teaching artists into schools and communities. We believe in the arts and their ability to transform education. We believe that when learning is enriched with the arts, students get more out of school.

Arts for Learning offers programs in various forms – including performances, hands-on workshops, and in-depth residencies. Our programs connect the arts with the curriculum to supplement learning.

Our programs occur wherever learning takes place, including afterschool programs, libraries, community centers, juvenile detention facilities, and hospitals.

Moving with Soundwaves by Jan Aldridge Clark

Program description

Students will explore the science of soundwaves and vibration through the harp via Dalcroze Eurhythmics, an educational technique that allows the students to gain physical awareness and experience of music through all of the senses, particularly kinesthetic. Using storytelling and movement students will bring characters to life through the music of the harp as well as gain understanding of the different frequencies of sound. By listening to the harp and interacting with the music using movement and senses – students will delve deeply into the science of soundwaves and vibration.
