Join us for an evening of music written by great piano composers J.S. Bach, Franz Schubert, Francis Poulenc and Ann Southam. This piano concert will feature a special performance of Sergey Prokofiev’s Fugitive Visions, written between 1915 and 1917. These intimate pieces express a wide variety of moods and emotions, from lyrical and simplistic to harshness and ferocity. During these tumultuous times, who can’t relate to that? Prokofiev took the title from a poem by Konstatin Balmont: “In every fugitive vision I see worlds, full of the changing play of rainbow hues…” This special performance of the Fugitive Visions is choreographed by Susan McGuire and will be premiered as part of the 2021 Butler Midwinter Dance Festival.
