Full Circle Nine Gallery announces a return to in-person First Friday, featuring Kimberly Ewing

Presented by Full Circle Nine Gallery at Full Circle Nine Gallery

Virtual programming will also take place on Facebook and Instagram.

“’The Lovely Adventures of Bean’ is about coming out and connecting with the world again,” Ewing said. “Bean reminds us of why life is so precious and that there is still so much to see. Bean teaches us to conquer our fears and enjoy life.”

Kimberly Ewing was slated to be the Featured Artist for April, 2020, but that show was canceled during the initial pandemic lockdown. The show, for Ewing, marks a hopeful change toward a resumption of life without the pandemic. Drawing inspiration from a show last fall, involving Joy Hernandez’s Bean the Astronaut, Ewing wanted to revisit the concept—always rooted in optimism and fun—this time showcasing her photography.

“I just love Bean and how Bean brings happiness to so many people,” Ewing said. “Bean invites us all to create a new normal and get back to life. Bean reminds us that life is truly worth living. So come on and take a trip with Bean. You never know where Bean will show up next. Hopefully, we will soon begin to have the courage to travel and connect with the world again.”

About Kimberly Ewing

Kimberly Ewing is an Indianapolis native with a love for photography, carrying a camera with her on even her most far-flung travels. She captures views of dancing waves in the ocean, the warm glow of the setting sun, people all across a diverse spectrum, animals both tame and wild, and nature scenes meant to feel extraordinarily ordinary.

April is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and feature shows during this time hold a special place for Ewing, as she lost her mother, Burma Jean Ewing, to the disease in 2009. Ewing often dedicates her shows to her mother’s memory and works to fundraise for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation as “Burma’s Dream Team.”

By day, Kimberly Ewing is an Emotional CPR (eCPR) coordinator and trainer through Allies of Indiana, promoting mental wellness. She’s also an implicit bias trainer, anti-racist trainer, diversity trainer, a certified Olweus Bullying Prevention Trainer, and a Cost of Poverty Experience (COPE) facilitator, with degrees from the University of Indianapolis and Indiana State University. A founding member of the Full Circle Nine Gallery, Ewing also serves on the board as the gallery’s treasurer.

About the Full Circle Nine Gallery

The Full Circle Nine Gallery operates as an artist cooperative gallery, with each of the member artists and the board dividing gallery duties and artists roles. The artists will work together to help each other advance in skill and practice, as well as to bring success to the gallery.

With over two dozen artists occupying a large, three-room space of the more factory-reminiscent portion of the Circle City Industrial Complex, Full Circle Nine offers a wide variety of art forms, media, and approaches.

To better work within the COVID-19 shutdown and restrictions, the Full Circle Nine Gallery has hosted Virtual First Fridays, on the gallery’s Facebook page, @fullcircleninegallery, as well as on its Instagram, @fc9gallery, during the typical First Friday hours. During that time, the artists will host live streams, post videos, or showcase photos of their latest work, in an effort to continue to connect with fans and patrons. The gallery has also resumed weekend hours, 12-4pm on Saturdays and Sundays, with health precautions, such as required masks.

Full Circle Nine Gallery is located at 1125 Brookside Ave., Indianapolis, IN, 46202, in the South Studios section of the Circle City Industrial Complex. For more information, or for artists interested in joining the Full Circle Nine, please visit www.fullcirclenine.com
