Rock E Bassoon – the world’s only electric rock bassoon band – returns for their first live gig since shutdown; Pork & Beans Brass Band opens with their funky NOLA sound!
Rock E Bassoon – the world’s only electric rock bassoon band – plays music from Zeppelin, Queen, the Beatles to Britney Spear and Bruno Mars. Six electric bassoons and a kickin\’ drummer can rock like a bunch of distorted electric guitars, tight vocal harmonies, or synth pop. Close your eyes – you won\’t believe it\’s a bunch of bassoons up there!! The group is comprised of musicians from the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and Indy Chamber Orchestra; faculty from Butler, DePauw, and UIndy; and some of Indiana’s finest free-lance professional bassoonists. Rock E Bassoon has performed at Lucas Oil Stadium for an Indianapolis Colts’ game; at Clowes Hall; live on the Bob and Tom Show; on WFYI; and is a Tonic Ball favorite. Members of Rock E Bassoon have performed on stage with such musical acts as The Rolling Stones, The Who, Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, Dave Brubeck, Liza Minnelli and Yo Yo Ma. Pork & Beans Brass Band will be bringin’ that funky NOLA sound to Indy as opening act.
