Vintage Movie Night┃The Mask (1961)

Presented by Garfield Park Arts Center at Garfield Park Arts Center

For May-Aug, Vintage Movie Night is moving to the Corporate Shelter (see map in discussion) adjacent to the Garfield Park Arts Center, where guests can watch from their cars in the parking lot similar to a drive-in movie. No concessions will be served at this time. Pre-registration is required.

The movie will start after sundown (around 9 PM), but guests can plan to get to the park 45 minutes to an hour early to set up and settle in for the show! Restrooms are only available through the outdoor port-o-lets. There is one located right by the parking lot next to the Corporate Shelter. Guests are welcome to bring their own coolers of food and non-alcoholic beverages. Please note alcohol is not permitted. Lastly, per the Marion County Public Health Department, face masks are mandated for all residents when they are inside public buildings and/or unable to maintain adequate social distancing (minimum six feet) outdoors.

In the 1950s, 3D movies became very popular as an alternative to staying at home watching television. We’re celebrating them outdoors this summer as a drive-through, socially-distanced and safe event. Don’t miss these! Many of these films are not shown very often—or at all. With each registration, you’ll get a pair of 3D glasses that will be distributed at the event. Guests can remain in their car or outdoors in lawn chairs (socially distanced and masked).

The Mask (1961)
A young archaeologist believes he is cursed by a mask that causes him to have weird nightmares and possibly to murder. Before committing suicide, he mails the mask to his psychiatrist, Dr. Barnes, who is soon plunged into the nightmare world of the mask.
