First Friday Gallery Opening at the Harrison Center

First Friday Gallery Opening at the Harrison Center

Presented by Harrison Center at Harrison Center for the Arts

“Circus Circus” by Johnny McKee and Kipp Normand in the Harrison Gallery. Normand and McKee have jumped into the ring to have some fun with archival photos, abstract work, assemblage, and a dark sense of humor.

“The Magnificent Midway” by Beth Guipe Hall and Josh Betsey in the Speck Gallery. Circus imagery, food characters, and large typographic posters with a vintage circus/midway feel will be the main attraction in this exhibit.

“The Sideshow” by Gigi Salij in the Annex Gallery. Each of the pieces in this show is inspired by a word, word-play, phrase, passage, or quote and features iconic images, from both pop culture and high culture.

“Places of Reflection” by Benaiah Cusack in the City Gallery. This exhibit features abstract oil and acrylic paintings that capture the essence of peaceful water features in his favorite Indianapolis parks.

“Atmosphere”, by Gary Gee in Hank & Dolly’s Gallery. The artists’ thoughts and reflections of the racial injustice hanging in the atmosphere inspired these large panels with a combination of acrylic and spray paint.

“Acrocontortional Luminarium,” by Chad Campbell in the Underground Gallery. A  multidimensional tribute to those who push their bodies and minds to the limit in order to perform for others. Immerse yourself in acrobats, contortionists, and colored shadows.

All shows will open at 6 pm Friday, July 2nd. Registration is required for entrance to this social distance event. Guests can register online.

All shows are open for in-person, socially distanced visitors Monday-Friday from 9am – 5pm and online beginning July 5th. Make an appointment or view the online galleries at harrisoncenter.org/buy-art.

With support from: Arts Council of Indianapolis, the Indiana Arts Commission, Christel DeHaan Family Foundation, and Allen Whitehill Clowes Charitable Foundation.
