A Rising Tide is a mobile, non-invasive arts programming that brings art and nature-centered events to unlikely spaces along the shores of the White River. Debuting in 2019, the program features interdisciplinary, collaborative performances.
A Rising Tide invites Indianapolis to the White River by highlighting our city’s talented creatives in one of our most beautiful, but under used destinations. Over two weekends, Indy Convergence will host eight events ranging from a dance performance with Kenyetta Dance Company to short plays from Fonseca Theatre to a DJ appreciation night from Haughville’s Tedd Hardy. Each group will perform on or beside the White River near historic Belmont Beach.
The White River is our city’s most valuable natural resources and provides about 60% of the drinking water for Indianapolis. It was once law for industries along the river to dump their waste into this essential resource, but now Indianapolis is working to reverse the effects of decades of pollution. A Rising Tide says “Welcome back to your river”, join us.
Tickets are all $15/each, sold in advance only. These events are outdoors in creative, new, community-maintained venues. All events are Bring Your Own Chair events.
Indy Convergence recommends wearing comfortable shoes and invites all audience members to bring a picnic along! The shoreline performance spaces require some walking on slightly uneven ground.
