Join the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra at the Hilbert Circle Theatre for an abbreviated performance of classical music.
Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 4, also known as the Italian Symphony, is meant to evoke the sights and sounds of Italy, and Mendelssohn called it “the jolliest piece I have so far written.” The 2011 piece Gutta cavat lapidem by Italian composer Lucia Ronchetii was created with the image of a drop of water having the power to hollow out stone. Berlioz’ symphony, written in response to the beauty of the Italian landscape, gives ISO Principal Violist Yu Jin a chance to showoff a range of emotion while musically exploring the Italian countryside.
Tickets go on sale starting August 30th.
