Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a traditional Mexican holiday that celebrates deceased family members through music, storytelling, food, and ofrendas (altars).
Join us to learn more about this Mexican holiday and partake in the traditions by enjoying cultural music, dance performances, & storytelling (from 6:15-8:15pm), creating Mexican-inspired crafts through take-home kits (see more info below), and more!
Share a photo, drawing, or stories about your deceased loved ones by adding to our community memorial wall. View our community ofrenda and learn more about the elements that go into building an ofrenda. Guests are encouraged to dress up in traditional outfits and face paint, too.
Please note that this event will take place outdoors at the Garfield Park Corporate Shelter. Restrooms will be available inside the Garfield Park Arts Center. Take-home craft kits will be available for pick-up October 26-November 2 at the Garfield Park Arts Center and Garfield Library (for more information on locations and times, please visit gpacarts.org).
