The Indianapolis Youth Orchestra continues its 40th season at 5pm Sunday, February 20, 2022 with the Concert, Philharmonic and Symphony Orchestras performing on stage at the Hilbert Circle Theatre, 45 Monument Circle, Indianapolis.
Serving nearly 200 students from across central Indiana, the Indianapolis Youth Orchestra exists to nurture the musical talents of young people through the rehearsal and performance of orchestral masterworks. “Our students have persevered through 20 months of online rehearsals, masks, distancing, and live streamed performances due to the pandemic,” says Executive Director Janette Brown, “and they are thrilled to be finally returning to a concert hall to play for a live audience.”
The concert will feature the Concert Orchestra under the direction of Mrs. Johanna Kitchell, the Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Mr. Craig Ghormley and the Symphony Orchestra under the direction of IYO Artistic Director Adam Bodony. Included on the program will be the winner of the annual IYO Young Artist Competition Junior Division. The concert will be approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes in length.
