Tarik Carroll’s exhibition emphasizes body positivity and, in his words, “is a visual conversation about inclusion and diversity.”
The Michael A. and Laurie Burns McRobbie Emerging Artist Series at Herron School of Art and Design is designed to support national and international emerging artists from diverse backgrounds through a variety of public lectures, residencies, and exhibitions, while also advancing learning experiences for students, faculty, and community members across campus.
The first exhibition in this annual series will feature Tarik Carroll, a New York-based photographer, body positivity activist, and visual artist.
Carroll’s commercial work has appeared in several major publications and media outlets, including Teen Vogue, People Magazine, and The New York Times. This exhibition will expand his artistic practice into a gallery setting while broadening our notion of accepted body types, particularly those of people of color.
“Tarik Carroll—EveryBODY IS A GOOD BODY: The RE-formation of Beauty Standards” will be on view in Eskenazi Hall’s Marsh Gallery from March 23 to April 26, 2022.
Herron’s exhibitions are free and open to the public at Eskenazi Hall, 735 W. New York St. Virtual tours of the exhibitions will be made available online.
