-“Before My Eyes” by India Cruse Griffin in the Harrison Gallery. Layers of history and culture are portrayed through mixed media collage. The pieces are rich in both texture and color, with “quilt-like compositions” peeking through the vibrant, flourishing greens and deep skin tones.

-“Yeilding to Nature” by Lorie Lee Andrews in the City Gallery.  A collection of detailed and illustrative copper etchings and mixed media pieces inspired by an individual in Broadripple who cultivated an urban forest in her front yard.

-“Places Inbetween” by Will Carpenter & Stephanie Doty in the Gallery Annex. The two artists combine their works of painting, mixed media, and ceramics to create an exhibit that surrounds the question of ‘What is home?’

-“Water from the Rock”, an exhibit of the IUPUI Religion, Spirituality, and the Arts Seminar in the Speck Gallery. This series, featuring new works of painting, sculpture, music, and poetry developed by the cohort, reflects on the ways in which–in the religious imagination–water quenches both physical and spiritual thirst. Focusing on the Exodus narrative of Moses’ striking the rock, they considered the power of water as sustenance, healing, and renewal–and contemplated how seemingly inanimate entities such as water and rocks might also be alive and help us rethink our relationship to the earth.

-Work by Myrta Pulliam in the Hank & Dolly’s Gallery. This collection of paintings and photographs curated by Steve Mannheimer is based on Myrta’s numerous trips to Africa and her commitment to endangered species.

-“Darling of the Underground” by Kristi Marsh Watson in the Underground Gallery. A mixed media collection of nontraditional methods, mediums, substrates, and chemicals to express cellular, aerial, and horizon landscapes.

All shows will open at 6 pm Friday, April 1st.

In-person gallery tours will open for visitors Monday-Friday from 9 am – 5 pm. Online galleries will open on April 2nd. Make an appointment or view the online galleries at harrisoncenter.org/buy-art.

Special Senior Hours are every Friday from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm. No appointment is needed.
