Come experience the wonders of 15th century Venice with a day of glass blowing demonstrations, live music, sword fighting, storytelling, and hands on crafts at the Bloomington Creative Glass Center!
On May 7th, come experience the wonders of 15th century Venice with the Bloomington Creative Glass Center! Celebrating Marietta Barovier, the first woman ever granted permission to open her own glass blowing studio in Murano Italy, we will delight you with a day of glass blowing demonstrations, live music, sword fighting, storytelling and hands on crafts for all ages. Watch how artists make glass cane and murrini that are rolled up into beautiful creations and then try your hand at making your own cold murrini piece. Listen to period music and watch a rapier fight or two. Bid to win some of the beautiful pieces that will be made before your eyes! The event is free to enter, but there is a charge to make your own creations.
This event is put on in collaboration with the Bloomington Early Music Festival and the Society of Creative Anachronism, with support from the Bloomington Arts Commission.
