Artist Statement
“I am a watercolor painter and illustrator. A natural paint and ink alchemist. My love for naturally dyeing textiles is strongly entwined with my vision as a visual artist. I make all my own watercolor paint and ink from produce waste, home grown flowers, wild harvested plants, nuts and trees. My paintings mesh earthen world, botanical illustrations and human features together. Each work of mine is defined by zippy paint splatters and disfigured anatomy that coexist together in harmony. My desire is to illustrate how humans and nature are so delicately tangled together. Using my own natural watercolor paint and ink works to represent this meeting of nature and humans.” – WaZeil
