This will be a chance for the audience to see the artists in action as they create, and engage with the artists while they work.

This event will be the first of a series of Friday events FC9 will host during its expanded Friday evening hours. Each month, Events Coordinator Mike Meares will arrange programming at the gallery on a Friday beyond the monthly First Friday gallery openings, offering an option to visitors that may find too many things to do on the traditional First Friday.

“I’m really excited for people to have an opportunity to come to this event and see artists at work on their craft!” Meares said. “As a painter whose work focuses on a lot of music, I think about the energy you get from seeing a band perform live. It offers you a deeper connection to that music. Painting can have that same spark when you see more than just the finished piece, but the process as well.”

“Live-painting gives me all the feels,” Dawn Cooper, FC9’s Operations Manager, said. “It’s Zen-like experience. You just pick up on the vibe of your surroundings and go with the flow.”

Cooper, FC9’s March Featured Artist, is excited for the addition of Friday hours and the monthly post-First Friday events as the gallery continues to grow in community. It reminds her of a makerspace she had been a part of in Louisville, Kentucky.

“I am excited with the direction FC9 is taking. My dream has always been to be in the eye of a makerspace. That is the vibe that is growing in our membership. I’m excited by the ideas and energy flowing right now and we have many exciting prospects brewing. I’m excited for what the balance of 2022 holds for our group,” Cooper said.

About the Full Circle Nine Gallery

The Full Circle Nine Gallery operates as an artist cooperative gallery, with each of the member artists and the board dividing gallery duties and artists roles. The artists work together to help each other advance in skill and practice, as well as to bring success to the gallery. With over two dozen artists occupying a large, three-room space of the more factory-reminiscent portion of the Circle City Industrial Complex, Full Circle Nine offers a wide variety of art forms, media, and approaches.
