Illumination: Sculpture by James O. Clark

Illumination: Sculpture by James O. Clark

Presented by Herron Galleries at Herron School of Art and Design

For over thirty years, James O. Clark has been inspired by the properties of light and the production of experimental sculptures that employ it as a medium. The 23 works on display in this exhibition were created between 1993 and 2000 and purposefully reflect the range and scope of Clark’s sculptural light-based investigations. Balloons, neon, car parts, bubble and fog machines, water, helium, fluorescent lights, fiber-optic cables and electroluminescent wire, and live chickens are all represented in his work.

This exhibition is organized by the Clara M. Eagle Gallery at Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky. It is supported by a grant from the Creative Motif Fund in New York.

Illumination: Sculpture by James O. Clark will be on view in the Herron Galleries from June 15 through Aug. 31, 2022.
