PUSH: the universal feelings and unique facets of having a baby

PUSH: the universal feelings and unique facets of having a baby

Presented by Summit Performance Indianapolis at Phoenix Theatre - Frank and Katrina Basile Stage

Having a baby can make life unrecognizable. Women encounter a flood of expectations, joys, absurdities, and pressures. Based on interviews of local Black and White women, PUSH is a short original play that uses poetry, humor, and heart to illuminate the commonalities and nuances of their stories.

Summit Performance Indianapolis produces this Community Conversation One-Act in partnership with Dr. Sally Wasmuth of the IUPUI Department of Occupational Therapy. The script is developed by local artists using interviews conducted by Dr. Wasmuth and her team. A panel discussion will follow the performance where audiences members can reflect on the play with a team of artists, researchers, and interviewees.
