On Friday, September 9th, join Lost Dog Gallery for Deal With It, the debut of a new collection by Taylor Bamgbose. This collection will explore the habitual strategies individuals use to regulate the big, difficult emotions they encounter in life. Paintings will be presented in pairs—one depicting a common but potentially unhelpful/unsustainable coping mechanism, and the other exploring a healthier way to emotionally regulate.
The artist’s goal is to create a space for reflection—how might you be avoiding, repressing, or denying how you feel? What might it be like to gently and courageously receive and understand those feelings instead?
The opening reception will be 9/9 from 5-9 p.m. at 1040 E. New York St. The exhibition will be available to view by appointment for the duration of September, and will close with a show on Sept. 30th from 5-9 p.m.
