Duckwall Artist Series: Schelle, Sasaki, and Friends - New Chamber Music

Presented by Butler Arts Center at Eidson-Duckwall Recital Hall

New chamber music by Miho Sasaki, David Del Tredici, Jim Loughery, and Butler composition students Amanda Ellery, Fox Lopez, and Drew Sperry. The program also includes Franz Waxman’s “Ride of the Cossacks” (1962, arr. Paul Henning) for two pianos / six hands, and the world premiere of Michael Schelle’s “Fear a​nd Loathing in the Carthusian Monastery at Valldemossa” (for two pianos / six hands and chamber ensemble).

Guest artists include David Murray (bass), Ross Dryer (piano), Richard Auldon Clark (conductor), Jon Crabiel (percussion), Jim Loughery (piano), Jay Young (tenor sax) – and featuring a special guest, the irrepressible Hell’s Kitchen NYC / Tokyo musical raconteur Thomas Piercy (clarinet).
