Gold medalists and Grand Prize winners of the 2022 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition, the Terra String Quartet (TSQ), formerly known as the Arte String Quartet, is a vibrant young ensemble based in New York City composed of graduates of the Juilliard School’s prestigious Honors Program and of the Manhattan School of Music. Hailing from around the world, these four musicians share a vision that chamber music embodies both intellectual and emotional vitality.

Members of the quartet have performed around the world- at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts and Carnegie Hall in New York City, The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, China, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris, France, Lotte Concert Hall in Seoul, South Korea, Daegu Concert House in Daegu, South Korea, and Vienna Musikverein in Vienna, Austria, among others. They have played alongside such musicians as Robert McDonald, Ida Kavafian, Natasha Brofsky, Anthony Marwood, Augustin Dumay, Gary Hoffman, and Laurence Lesser. They have also attended music festivals including the Ravinia Steans Young Artist Program, Yellow Barn, Music@Menlo, Norfolk Chamber Music Festival, Prussia Cove, and the Seiji Ozawa International Academy.

TSQ has performed at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Alice Tully Hall as part of Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts’ “Wednesdays at One” series, performing the Schubert Cello Quintet with Natasha Brofsky, and as part of the Four Seasons Chamber Music Festival’s Winter Workshop in North Carolina, where they performed with Robert McDonald. They have also performed with the Cremona Quartet and have studied under the guidance of Ara Gregorian, Mark Steinberg, Hye-Jin Kim, Daniel Avshalamov, Misha Amory, Natasha Brofsky, Catherine Cho, and Joseph Lin. In Spring of 2022 they were finalists in the 2022 Chesapeake International Chamber Music Competition and went on to win both the grand prize and gold medal at the prestigious Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition at Notre Dame in May of 2022. The Terra Quartet is represented by Le Dimore del Quartetto in Italy, and is the first quartet to have been chosen to participate in the Four Seasons Chamber Music Festival’s Professional Fellowship Program at East Carolina University.

Summer 2022 appearances included recitals in New Hampshire, at the inaugural HIMA chamber music festival in Lakeside Chautauqua, OH, at the Dame Myra Hess series in Chicago, and the Banff International String Competition in September.
