“Ligeti would always follow his own path. His is a unique voice, capable of combining pathos with humour, a sense of the mysterious and the grotesque.” —BBC Music Magazine
A concert not to be missed. Our third and final concert celebrating György Ligeti’s 100th Birthyear. Ligeti’s Trio for Horn is “one of the greatest masterworks of the 20th century since the Bartók string quartets” (Diana Cohen).
Two masterworks of the horn trio repertoire by Johannes Brahms and György Ligeti, and the world premiere of a work by the remarkable composer Hilda Paredes. On the centenary year of Ligeti’s birth, Paredes pays homage to these great composers and extends the medium they championed into the 21st century. We are looking forward to seeing you in April for this exciting program!
