First Friday Art Show - 'Local: Indiana Through Lens and Brush'

Presented by Indiana Landmarks at Indiana Landmarks Center

Painter Melinda Spear-Huff and photographer Ron Wise offer their unique perspectives on landmarks that shape a sense of place in the Hoosier state in the First Friday Art Show, Local: Indiana through Lens and Brush, at Indiana Landmarks Center’s Rapp Family Gallery.

Indiana artist and painter Melinda Spear-Huff enjoys capturing local landmark scenes in a classic, impressionistic style through her imagination and brush. Located on the north side of Indianapolis, Melinda works full-time in her studio painting custom commissioned work for clients locally and across the U.S. Melinda’s work focuses on scenes from Indiana State parks, Indianapolis 500, The Soldiers and Sailor’s Monument, and other Indianapolis landmarks and Hoosier landscapes.

Ron Wise discovered a passion for photography in middle school that led to a life-long appreciation of the medium. He studied at Herron School of Art with an emphasis in fine art photography. While his diverse experiences include working in studio, wedding, magazine, and newspaper photography, he considers black and white photography his first love. Today, he owns Renditions Framing Center on the northeast side of Indianapolis.

Complimentary snacks and beverages will be available at the reception, when guests can also tour Indiana Landmarks Center. Built as a Methodist church in the nineteenth century, the restored and adapted structure holds theaters and a reception hall in addition to the gallery and Indiana Landmarks’ headquarters. Free admission.
