Sacred Places

Presented by Children's Museum of Indianapolis at Children's Museum of Indianapolis

Take your family on a globe-hopping adventure in our newest exhibit, Sacred Places, where you will explore sites that are sacred to communities around the world. By showcasing some of the world’s most sacred places, this experience will foster curiosity and understanding of religious traditions. Families will learn about locations where people go to experience illumination, acts of faith, or spiritual fulfillment. The sacred places include:

Patan Durbar Square, Nepal (Hinduism)
Wat Arun Temple, Thailand (Buddhism)
Rapa Nui, also known as Easter Island (traditional spiritual practices)
Christian Church Mosaic Art, Madaba, Jordan (Christianity)
The Great Mosque, also known as the mud mosque, Djenné, Mali (Islam)
Mikvé Israel-Emanuel Synagogue, Curaçao (Judaism)

This unique exhibit will immerse visitors in the sights, sounds, and environments of sacred sites from around the world. This exhibit will foster curiosity about and understanding of religious traditions so that people of different faiths are better able to comprehend, communicate, and engage with one another.
