New work in clay by Rachel Bleil, Andrew Perry Davis, and Carrie Longley at Fountain Square Clay Center, 950 Hosbrook St, Indianapolis IN.
Strange Worlds is a show of recent ceramic work by Carrie Longley, Rachel Bleil, and Andrew Perry Davis. Rachel Bleil’s artwork centers on narrative, exploring the journeys and transformations of hybrid teddy bears. The graphic quality of sgraffito captivates her current work and enhances each story. Andrew Perry Davis sculpts characters inspired by toys. His forms seem to be from another time, their worn surfaces showing age. Aspects that seem at first to be contradictory prompt different interpretations. Carrie Longley’s artwork investigates the botanical world. Her ceramic sculptures consider the complexities of seduction, reproduction, empowerment, and beauty.
The show will be up September 1st through 22nd. Join the artists for a reception Friday, September 1st from 6-9 pm at Fountain Square Clay Center. Presented by the Indy Clay Co-op.
