B(e)sides, an exhibition featuring artworks by Sean Hoisington, will be on display in the Marian University Art Gallery located in the College of Osteopathic Medicine from September 21 – December 8, 2023.  An artists’ reception and gallery talk will be held on Wednesday, October 11 from 4:30-6pm in the MUAG located on the second floor in College of Osteopathic Medicine.  The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public.

Sean Hoisington created B(e)-Sides after a period of intense, personal upheaval.  Sean relocated from Indianapolis to his hometown of 7,500 people. He photographed most of these images during 3 months in a flurry of doubt. He veered from shooting multi-image narratives to single images, creating an eclectic cast of rogue characters, bewildered in a B-movie dream. The rudimentary elements in these photographs were sometimes deliberate and other times forced due to time constraints and guerilla-style shooting. The locations and scenarios reflect, not only a small town, but also a sense of travel and misplaced adventure. Hoisington hesitantly revisited these abandoned images in 2022 for The Alex Prager Contest on Instagram, which he won.
