Vance Gilbert with Katie Dahl

Vance Gilbert with Katie Dahl

Presented by Butler Arts Center at The Krannert Room in Clowes Memorial Hall

Vance Gilbert burst onto the singer/songwriter scene in the early 1990s when the buzz started spreading in the folk clubs of Boston about an ex-multicultural arts teacher who was knocking ’em dead at open mikes. Word of the Philadelphia-area bred performer quickly spread to New York City and soon Vance Gilbert took the country by storm.

“An incredibly witty and wry stage presence, the soulful guitarist-singer is considered one of folk-pop’s most incisive and insightful songwriters.”

Philadelphia Courier Post

“Gilbert took the stage, accompanied only by an acoustic guitar, a whimsical sense of humor, and an astonishingly smooth, pure tenor voice. But that proved to be more than enough.”

Chicago Tribune

Vance Gilbert will be joined by clear-eyed and tough-minded, songwriter/playwright Katie Dahl. Katie Dahl is known for her smart songs, wry wit, and wise spirit. She is also an internationally touring, radio-charting artist who “delivers razor-sharp lyrics with a hearty, soulful voice” (American Songwriter). In live shows that are both courageously honest and devilishly funny, Katie dives deep into questions of land and love, family and body image, grief and joy. “In unsettled times,” says Peter Mulvey, “Katie Dahl brings us a grounded spirit.”
