La Fille Mal Gardee

La Fille Mal Gardee

at Unknown

La Fille Mal Gardée (The Wayward Daughter) is a comic ballet presented in two acts. As one of the oldest ballets still regularly performed by most modern ballet companies, La Fille Mal Gardée is a lively and charming tale of a beautiful young villager, Lise, and a young farmer, Colas. They want to get married, but Lise’s mother, widow Simone, has arranged to marry Lise off to Alain, the dimwitted, umbrella-obsessed son of Thomas, a rich countryman. As you watch this amusing tale unfold, you get swept away into another place and time where you truly understand that this isn’t a simple story of “boy meets girl.” Through colorful costumes and sets, beautiful dancing, and a storyline that takes you on a journey filled with whimsy, humor, and joy, you just can’t help but to feel as though you are celebrating eternal spring and the triumph of young romance through the eyes of a fellow villager. This is truly the perfect ballet to celebrate our own springtime in Indiana! Bring your entire family and enjoy a wonderful memory with all of us at IBC!

Staged by Alyona Yakovleva-Randall and based on choreography by Sir Frederick Ashton.
