Naturally Inspired Paint Out-Silent Auction

Naturally Inspired Paint Out-Silent Auction

at Unknown

See the works of a penguin Picasso, a walrus Warhol, an elephant Escher and many others during Naturally Inspired Paint Out presented by The Great Frame Up of Indianapolis. During these great events, you can peer through the eyes of an artist — whether she’s a human or an 8,000 pound elephant — and even take home art inspired by the natural world.

Each spring, the Zoo invites a group of 15 juried artists to make art “en plein air” (outdoors) at Naturally Inspired Paint Out Day, which will be held from 9am-3pm April 27. During this unique event you have a special opportunity to observe the artists as they turn a blank canvas or a AnimalPaintinghunk of clay into something truly extraordinary. Past works have included tigers, elephants, bears and more. Some of our more artistically inclined animals may also pick up a brush of their own and join in the fun.

After the paintings have dried and been professionally framed by The Great Frame Up, they will be displayed for the summer, June 1-Aug. 28, in the Schaefer Rotunda at White River Gardens. Then you are invited to attend a silent auction and artists reception on Aug. 29 inside the Hulman Riverhouse at the Gardens. Bid on your favorite work of art or just enjoy the show! You’ll also get to mingle with artists and other Zoo patrons, get after-hours access to the Hilbert Conservatory and savor light hors d’oeuvres and wine. Reservations are required for the reception and silent auction, so call our Membership office at 317-630-2046 to RSVP.
