When poets gather to write new poems, they can break through old habits and write something stronger and truer than before. To help this happen, the instructor and class members will work together to create an atmosphere in which everyone feels free to venture into new territory. Participants in the class will write new material each week, which they will develop and then read to each other at the beginning of the next class. Since there will be nothing to workshop on the first day, class members will get to know each other and discuss various ideas about poetry with the instructor. For beginning poets, Poetry Boot Camp will be an opportunity to write without fear of rejection or criticism, but poets of all levels can expect to learn and grow from the class.
