Heritage Day

at Unknown

Travel back in time at the Johnson County Museum’s Heritage Day, Saturday October 5th from 10am-5pm. The museum, located at 135 North Main Street in downtown Franklin, presents an entertaining day full of interactive exhibits, live music, and hands-on activities for all ages.
Visitors to Heritage Day can sing along to traditional tunes performed by fiddler Eddie Grogan, watch demonstrations by a blacksmith and a whittler, sample apple butter made over an open fire, and visit a Civil War encampment with costumed re-enactors. There will be a visit by Danny Russel as Abraham Lincoln from 11am to 1pm, and tours all day of the Hendricks cabin, a part of Johnson County history since the early 1800s. Children can make historical crafts, play traditional games, and learn about Johnson County artifacts through the museum scavenger hunt.
Heritage Day is part of the city of Franklin’s Fall Festival, and is free of charge and open to the public. For more information, contact the museum at 317-346-4500 or visit JohnsonCountyMuseum.org.
