The Indianapolis Society of the Classical Guitar and the IUPUI Department of Music and Arts Technology are pleased to announce the next concert in our 2012-2013 concert season, winner of the 2012 Guitar Foundation of America International Perfomance Competition, Rovshan Mamedkuliev.

Born in Baku, Azerbaijan Rovshan started taking guitar lessons at the age of 11. In 2004 he was accepted to the prestigious Nizhny Novgorod Conservatoire where he studied with nationally recognized guitarist Aleksey Petropavlovsky. He completed his studies with Honors in 2009 and was invited to teach at Nizhny Novgorod Conservatoire.

Rovshan has won numerous awards and has performed throughout the world including Russian Concert Hall (Moscow), Paris, Vilnius, Baku, Saint-Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk. In 2012, he gave a solo concert in New York’s Carnegie Hall and undertook a tour performing in numerous cities throughout Germany and Spain. Currently, he is on a solo concert tour (around 50 concerts) throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, South America, and China.

In 2006 Rovshan Mamedkuliev received a special grant for high achievements in the arts from Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Doors open at 7:00. There will be one 15 minute intermission. Parking is available, for a small fee, at the Gateway Parking Garage (525 N. Blackford St.) directly Northwest of the Informatics and Communications Technology Complex.
