Farce of the Rings or How I Met Your Mordor

Farce of the Rings or How I Met Your Mordor

at Unknown

New original comedy now playing every Friday and Saturday night at 8:00 p.m. through the end of October.

Theatre at the Milk Building celebrates its ten-year anniversary with the world premiere of The Farce of the Rings or How I Met Your Mordor,  an uproarious two-act comedy based on the popular Lord of the Rings books and movies. The script, written by Indiana playwrights Brett Hughes and Scott Culpepper, is the first original work to be produced at the theatre. Culpepper is also directing the show and full-time theatre employees Nikki Hunter and BJ Bovin have served as producer and set, sound and lighting designer, respectively.

Farce of the Rings parodies The Fellowship of the Ring, the first movie of the trilogy, by throwing twisted versions of the familiar characters through one absurd hurdle after another in the great quest to destroy the Ring. The writers call the production a "PG-13 show with as much tongue-in-cheek vulgarity as your average prime-time sitcom, with more laughs and fewer commercials."

Farce premieres on Friday, September 27 and runs each Friday and Saturday night at 8:00 through October 26. Tickets are $16 for adults, $14 for students and seniors and are available in advance at themilkbuilding.com  or by calling (317) 626-2155. Tickets are $2 more at the door.

Theatre at the Milk Building is housed in a nearly century-old former milk condensery in Lebanon that has been extensively renovated. The spacious, high-tech theatre offers a variety of amenities including a movie theatre style concession stand and has seen continued improvements throughout its ten-year history. Theatre at the Milk Building is known for its innovative staging of unique comedy, action and horror shows with highlights such as Epic Proportions (2004), What the Rabbi Saw (2005) and Dracula (2010). The theatre maintains a busy online presence on its website and on Facebook, where amusing pictures and stories from behind the scenes are regularly posted. (facebook.com/theatreatthemilkbuilding)

The devoted cast and crew is made up of residents of Hamilton County and the surrounding areas. Thirteen hail from Lebanon while seven more call Carmel home. Indianapolis, Pittsboro, Thorntown and Zionsville are also represented.

Hughes and Culpepper are 1990 Carmel High School graduates who produced and directed shows in Carmel and Westfield throughout the 1990s until finally settling in to a home when Culpepper was able to purchase The Milk Building in 2001. Although Hughes moved with his family to Edina, Minnesota in 2005, the pair has never stopped collaborating, relying on co-writing software and communication technology like Skype to work together. Farce of the Rings or How I Met Your Mordor represents a great accomplishment for everyone involved with The Milk Building and promises to be an unforgettable live experience.
