Hardball: Tom Torluemke

Hardball: Tom Torluemke

at Unknown

Well known Midwest artist, Tom Torluemke is known for his no holds barred approach to his art making practice. Why mince imagery after all? A grouping of hard-hitting and dramatics works in various mediums will be brought together in his forthcoming exhibit, Hardball at Mt. Comfort Gallery located in the Murphy Arts Center.

The underlying content of Torluemke’s works is sociopolitical and humanistic. Works in the exhibition grapple with timeless ethical and societal issues throughout history that have never really changed such as respect, empathy, prejudice, crime, politics and abuse as well as man’s relationship with nature and the environment. In part, his art becomes a redemptive act and a way to realign his priorities as well as help others “see” theirs.

As part of the exhibit, viewers will be treated to the debut of one of Torluemke’s recent concrete sculptures, Tie The Knot, part of a growing body of work for a major solo exhibition in 2015 at Linda Warren Projects, Chicago.
