The Art Bank is pleased to announce that Artist Rachel Illingworth will be teaming up with Get Hope, Fight Poverty, the Featured Charity, for November. The charity will have a display of handmade goods for sale during Second Friday, November 8th, with proceeds going to the building of schools in Africa. There will also be a children’s book collection throughout the month, with the books going to the libraries of the schools built in Africa. About Give Hope Fight Poverty Give Hope Fight Poverty is an organization that organizes service-learning programs, teaming United States professionals and students to help lift orphaned children, particularly in Africa, focusing on fighting poverty, HIV/AIDS and illiteracy. For Second Friday, representatives will have a display of goods and wares handmade by women in Swaziland, as well as artwork created by children helped by the program. All proceeds will go toward the building of a school there, and donations of children’s books will help stock the library. More information can be found at www.ifightpoverty.org Illingworth is especially proud to be connected to this Featured Charity, as its efforts to make the world a better place, and to call attention to those in need, fit well with her Featured Exhibition, “Vital Threat” and its theme of making the world a better place by calling attention to the misuse of the world’s water resources. “There are so many areas in this world that could be better taken care of by those of us with the means to do so, whether that means orphaned children wanting a better life, or people that would just like to get by with a clean source of fresh water, or even people locally that would like to just have a better kept neighborhood. If we all work together, we can make this world a better place,” says Illingworth.
