STEM to STEAM Program: Teacher Talks, Sharing Lesson Ideas

STEM to STEAM Program: Teacher Talks, Sharing Lesson Ideas

at Unknown

Join us for this special in-gallery interpretive and interactive tour led by three local teachers. Gather with other educators in the galleries as Mary Birtwhistle (middle school math and technology educator), Sarah Hawkins (high school biology educator), and Katie McLaughlin (elementary school art educator) each highlight ways that they have used the IMA with their classrooms. This interpretative tour will feature practical ideas that respond to the overarching theme of STEAM — integrating the sciences, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics in interesting ways. The featured exhibition, The Essential Robert Indiana, will be included on the tour. Participants will receive lesson packets with links to Common Core standards and assessment ideas ready for use in the classroom. After the gallery talk, continue with casual conversation with other educators over a complimentary cup of coffee, tea, or glass of wine at the IMA Cafe. This event is eligible for 2 Professional Growth Plan points.

Register by Friday, February 14; advance registration required. Space is limited to 40 people who will be divided into two groups. Group One will start their tour at 4 pm and Group Two will start their tour at 4:30 pm. Please specify which tour you’d like to join. Register early to get the tour time you prefer. The first five registered will receive a bag of teacher goodies. To register, please email Heidi Davis-Soylu at hdavis-soylu@imamuseum.org by Friday, February 14.
