Connections North

Presented by Freetown Village at Unknown

This historically accurate re-enactment experience highlights Bethel African Methodist Episcopal's involvement with the Underground Railroad.  Bethel AME is the oldest African American Church in Indianapolis.  "Connections North" is a historical play positioned in the year 1854. Bethel AME (known as the Indianapolis Station) is a stop along the Underground Railroad. The Fugitive has been moving from station to station seeking freedom until meeting the Conductor in Indianapolis, Indiana. The two learn more about each other and form a shared bond during the intense waiting period that they must endure before the Fugitive moves to the next station.  Freetown has partnered with Bethel to help to bring history to life through this one-act performance.
