Notes From the Runway: IDADA First Friday at the Art Bank

Presented by Art Bank Artists Studios and Gallery at Unknown

The Art Bank is pleased to announce that Levi Hadley will be the Featured Artist at the Art Bank in June. His show, “Notes From the Runway” will open in the Feature Room during the IDADA First Friday Gallery Walk, June 6th. “If you take an interest in fashion and style,” Hadley says, patrons should see his show, “also, if you enjoy very aesthetically pleasing art.” Hadley will be combining 2-D canvas art with a fashion inspiration full of a great deal of energy and overall visual quality.

“Fashion has always inspired my art, but in more subtle ways,” says Hadley. “I’d observe and take notes on some of my favorite fashion designers’ looks on the runway and incorporate these observations into my paintings. This could be in the way of the colors or textures I saw, or something less tangible, like the overall mood of the show.”

“I noticed that the clothing people wear are actually simplified and gentrified versions of the couture that is presented on the runways by some of the world’s most preeminent designers. I think therein is not just a socio-economic significance, but also a philosophical one. We use the adornments on our body to communicate an idea, and many use these to communicate individuality. But how much individuality do we actually possess if these adornments are commercially bought or are the knock-offs of looks created by a handful of creative minds?”
