Come discover what was described on NPR as “swirly awesomeness!” Contra dancing is recreational, non-competiton dancing, always to live music in the styles of Irish, old-time, swing, gypsy, and newly composed music. Contra dancing is about community, making friends and dancing to diverse music. You don’t even need to bring a partner – part of the tradition is switching partners each time, and dance with both them and everyone else.  A caller teaches each dance, so no lessons are needed; just show up and have fun!
